The second race of the F1 championship just ended. Drivers leave California desert. A difficult and tiring race under the sun! we won't let them leave us so fast!! Motorhome are already on the road of Belgium where they look for a little bit of coolness...
There is nothing here, not even a parasol!! And i'm going to interview the drivers under a sweltering heat!
Sebastien, 1st. Congratulations! Your first victory in our championship, but especially a hattrick! Pole position, bestlap in race, and victory.
A great Week end for you! First, tell us about your qualifying session. After this pole position, was you confident on your luck to win in race?
Well yes !
First I liked to drive here last year for the hotlap championship but I've liked it even more this year!
At the start of the qualifying session, my objective was the top 3, but when I've seen that I could go faster, I wanted to drive in 1.02.xxx !
I've pushed hard to make this lap in 1.02.996 ! I was happy !
I've crossed my fingers for that Mr x doesn't improve !
So the race, you pass over the corkswrew 21 times, you never made mistake and you take the victory... Easyly! There is a gap of 8 seconds with your closer pursuer who was persuaded to have achieved a perfect race! An excellent race?
For the race, my objective was the podium !
After a lot of practise to set-up the car I manage to finish only two races !
The first the tuesday with a spin 3 laps before the end so I had to do better !
I try again !
I didn't manage to finish a race before sunday!
A cc a little bit curious or a kerb a little bit too short and I went in the wall!
In the end afternoon sunday, I finish my race with a great bestlap !
Sincerely I thought finishing third with TeeT and Cédric in front of me !
You leave the track with good points for the championship... What is the next step?
Well the objectives : pole position, podium ,bestlap et victory are achieved. Now next of course is to win the championship with Lucyfer and why not the drivers' championship!
Thank you Fisico, congratulations again for this great race!
Thibaut, second. Two podium in two races. However your position after the qualify was not as good as the one you've held in canada!
I didn't have much time for this qualifying session but I knew that I would have more time for the race. My objectives was to take a good spot to avoid a faraway start. But I wasn't very confident. It was a new track, and with my little practise in qualifying, I thought I couldn't achieved a good race. There were a lot of good drivers around me ! After the qualify, I didn't thought seriously about a podium.
Finally, you did a good race! You finish second and you have score a lot of points for the following of the championship!
Yes, as usual I took my qualifying setup with some little modifications just so that the car can finish a race. And the car was perfect! Very pleasant to drive, a good balance. I felt driving the same car in qualifying and in race! After that, I choose to be very careful with the overtaking.
I've almost made no mistake, and I was really sure that I could take the first place for the first time! I was very surprised by the gap between Fisico and me. He did a fantastic race and I want to congratulate him, He really deserve his hattrick!!!
The championship just begun and we already approaching the half-season which will be very short this year. I take some points to Cédric. But Fisico is coming back very hard. And Olivier may have made a blunder here, but he will certainly be very fast in Belgian. The good places will be expensive!
Thank you Thibaut.
Cédric. Third. After your victory in Canada, you climb on the podium again! Was it difficult to find the perfect setup on a new track like this one for the qualifying?
Actually with a little more time, I could improve the car or even make a complete setup by nothing.
I thank a lot Richard and Senina for their help in qualifying :
They gave me good basis for the set-up.
For this type of track, the qualifying set-up aren't just adaptable for the race. This is why I made a better race in comparision of my qualifying session.
But Fisico was the best on this GP. He certainly found the good trick.
Then the race and you climb the podium again... The fourth consecutive! That's even the sixth on seven races since the mid-season last year !A good series, a good race?! A beautiful position at the drivers ranking!
As I said in past I didn't consider myself as a "super drivers" like MiKL, Christophe, Marky, Gusgus and some others. But I have the pretension to participate in a Maximum number of races to take the most points for the championship and stay at contact.
I don't look at the statistics so that I can concentrate myself more for the next races, because the opposition is there and the qualifying and the races will be more and more difficult.
Fisico and Bugs becomes dangerous and the come back of the BE boys could be spectacular.
thank you Cédric.
Bernhard, you're not on the podium, But I wanted to speak with you! You're fourth to cross the finish line! But your qualifying session was not as good as your race. Tell us about that first.
Well I have to say that I was pretty happy with my qualifying as the field around me was very close together and just .2 of a second slower could’ve cost a lot of spots on the starting grid. Of course I could’ve also been a half a second faster with a perfect lap, but we all can say that, I’m sure.
As for the race, I had a lot of fun to driving it especially after I learned that my qualifying setup wasn’t too far off from a good race setup which helps as the car is behaving similar as in the qualifying. I had a great start and was able to overtake a few of cars right then and thanks to a great race pace I was able ultimately to move up to the 4th position. For the top 3 my car was just not quick enough, but I was very happy to keep Kenny behind me especially with all the many overtaking maneuvers. This is by far the best result I achieved so far in this very competitive and great league. Congratulations to all finishers and especially the top 3 which showed a great race and of course the unbelievable pace from Fisico, fantastic what he was able to show here.
However, you've done a great race! However, you've done a great race! you've inflamed your supporters ! They've shouted only your name! Moreover, you did a good operation at the classification!
Yeah the race was great, but the best of all were the fans here. I’d like to thank them all for coming to the famous and beautiful Laguna Seca race track and their unbelievable support for me. It definitely helped me and the entire crew a lot to achieve this result. It felt like they all were pushing my car to more and more speed. Great weather, great crowed, great race; what more can one ask? And of course like you said this will bring me even further up in the driver standing which is just awesome and great for the entire team. Of course there are still 4 more tough races to come, but maybe with a lot of luck I can stay in the top 10. We'll see.
Thanks Bernhard and congratulation for this 4th place in front of your public!
Christophe... You called for an interview!! Don't deny! Here is it!! Christophe, you finished 16th after a 26th place in the qualifying session. First, tell us about your qualify lap.
Very difficult this session ! First I want to specify that my name is Christopher. Not Christophe...I came late on the track so I didn't had so much time to set-up my Oger-Coyote and i tried to make an agressive set-up... Almost no wing at the rear (When you play rally-games you liked to drift)... That could run! But unfortunately, someone decided something else... I've gone out of the road and the car was totally destroyed! I've took the substitution car and I simply try to achieved a lap in order to avoid the last line, with a car set-up for the monaco track... 26th time.
In race, you gain ten position! A good surprise! How was it?
A very bad start ! I stall and I finally start behind everybody. That was not the sign of a good race... Then, as the race progressed, I overwhelm this handicap, I overtook all the unconscious who were on my road like a raging bull in order to finally enter in the points, 16th... Oger-Coyote precedes the two HD teams and score regulary... But now, Spa is another story.
And in the motorhome, I open a champagne bottle for my new team Lorraine GP!
Thanks ChristopheR. And paid attention! The next who murder his name, I take care about him personnaly!!
Ok everyone is gone, there is not even a cat on the track so I'm going to... Wait a minute! There is somebody there...Hey! Mickaël!! Our famous league president! allow me to take few minutes of your busy schedule to answer my questions! So, How is your retirement? I suppose that you're very busy with the management of our league? Moreover you introduce a new championship...
Yes everything goes well! I'm provisionally retired from the championship but not from the CVGPi!
As I write these lines, I'm thinking about the MSS session, how can the greatest number of people could run with us, even one time, even without any preparation... That's a new challenge for the CVGPi, and this MSS season will certainly have an impact on the things we will do in the next few years... So that's important!
You watch the race? The start of the championship? You give me your opinion about this season!?
As a lot of drivers, I discoverd this track and I was very impressed by the performance of everybody. A lot of new drivers join us this year, but ahead, there is always a fight for the tenth, it reminds me some memories!
I congratulate Fisico who achieved a great race, a beautiful hattrick! I think we will have a great battle for the title. If I had to bet today, I will bet on Cédric, even if he had less time than the last year. Fisico confirmed to be a big challenger, and I like to see you (TeeT) more motivated than ever this year. Who knows? Maybe a first victory!?! Even more! And behind there is a lot of great drivers : BB, Senina, Bugspetit... With six races this year, no mistake is allowed! Good luck all!
Thank you Mickaël, I let you work!
That's really end now, we are going to meet us again next week in Belgian, for the race on one of the most beautiful track : Spa-francorchamps!
