SECTION 1 : Introduction to the F1 championship Up

This championship consists of 3 races (or Grand Prix) taking place according precise dates.

Each event of this championship takes place according a precise manner :

- One qualifying week : from monday 0h00 to sunday 23h59 (french time), without restriction of time and an illimited number of times entered on the website, but without re-loading during the game.
- One race week : from monday 0h00 to sunday 23h59 (french time), without restriction of time and an illimited number of times entered on the website, but without re-loading during the game.

In order to play and to participate to the championship, you must :
- Be registered on the website with the provided registration form
- Have the Grand Prix 4 (GP4) video game
- Install the official patch 9.6 from Infogrames (free)
- Install the CVGPi patch (free)
- Install the GPxPatch software version 3.93 (free)
- Always launch the game through the GPxPatch software

All these files are availables in the download section of our website, except the Grand Prix 4 game itself.
In order to know if your game, the multiple patches and necessary software have been installed correctly, we encourage you to save a hotlap in your game let it check with our tool "Verification of your lap" available in your member section (registration required).



SECTION 2 : Drivers and Teams Up

2.1. Free driver

To participate, it is not obligatory to be part of a team. You can participate in all the sessions of all the events as a "free driver", and you will be part of the default team "CVGPi Team".

2.2. To integrate an existing team

For the interest of the championships (drivers and teams), it is better to be part of a team.

To look for a free driver seat in one of the teams already registered, you can consult the team list. To ask for a contract to one of these teams, contact directly the manager of this team, or visit the forum to ask for a seat.

2.3. To create a team

You can create yourself a team in the championship.
It must consist of at least one driver, but it is better to have 2 drivers in each team.

The maximum number of drivers per team is 2 occupant drivers + 1 test driver (cf. 2.5.).

2.4. Contracts and transfers

A driver can possess a contract with only one team in a same championship.
A contract is limited in the time. His minimum duration is the end of the next GP.

No contract can be broken, except in special cases (personal obligation to leave the championship for example...) or friendly transfer. These special cases will be studied by the President of the League who will take the final decisions.

Participation clause: The managers reserves the right to ask the cancellation of the contrat of a driver not more active, it means a driver who has not participated in the 2 last events of the championship without informing his manager or give a reason for his no-participation.

2.5. Test drivers

As well as 2 occupant drivers, a team can recruit a "test driver", it means a 3rd driver.
The test driver can participate in all the events of the championship.

He scores individual points which are counted in the drivers rankings of the championship. However, his points are counted for his team only if at least 1 of the 2 occupant drivers of the team has not participated to the race. If the 2 occupant drivers have participated to the race (whatever if their race is valid or not, whatever if they have scored more points or not), the points of the test driver will not count in the team rankings, but only in the drivers ranking.

SECTION 3 : Game configuration Up

3.1. Driver name

The player must use either his real name (given during the registration) either his driver nickname. It has to be insered in the game, and this name or nickname must be readable throught Hofxlap in the qualifyings and race files of the player.

3.2. Session code

A random code is given to the drivers on the website at the beginning of each event, qualifyings or race. This code must be insered in the game and must be readable throught Hofxlap in the qualifyings and race files of the player. It can be put in the game after the player name/nickname, the team name or the engine name.

3.3. Difficulty level

The difficulty level in the game must be set to PRO or ACE.

3.4. Adversaries level

The adversaries level in the game (Computer Cars) must be set to 2001 Level.

3.5. Driving Aids

All aids are authorized, except the F3 and F4 aids, which are the spin recovery and the indestructibility of the car.

3.6. Weather and Seed

The weather has to be set in GPxPatch - GPxSet tab, before launching the game.
Except in case of other informations, the Grand Prix (qualifyings and race) take place on dry track. The weather must be set on Custom and 0% of probability of rain. On dry track, the use of a personnal seed is authorized.

In case of a particular weather, a specific probability of rain and a seed are communicated. In that case, they must be used obligatory.

3.7. Failures

The failures have to be deactivated in the game.

3.8. Pit Lane Speed Limit

It must be set to 80 kmh.

3.9. Free Practice Cars

In GPxPatch, the number of cars on the track in free practice mode must be set to 1.

3.10. Save/Restore Car State

In GPxPatch, the use of the option "Save/Restore Car State" is authorized in qualifyings and in race.

3.11. AVPO / Processor Occupancy

The Average Value of Processor Occupancy (or AVPO) must not exceed 100% in qualifyings and in race.
Particular case: For the drivers whose game is set to a number of frames per second inferior or equal to 18. In that case, the limit is 100% in qualifyings and 110% in race. The average AVPO of a file is readable through the Hofxlap software, at the last line. During the game, the instantaneous AVPO is readable by pressing the 'O' key.

3.12. Replay Duration

The replay duration is set in the graphical options of the game.
It must always be set on a value enought high to allow to watch the whole qualifyings or race.

3.13. Car Caracteristics

The physic parameters of the car must be exactly the default ones in the game. It is not authorized to modify the cars physic, either by the loading of a physic file either by a modification of the GP4.EXE file. Consequently, the engines are limited to 855 BHP and the cars must never weight less than 605 kgs (except in case of crashs of course). The physic caracteristics of each car can be checked with the checksums viewable in all GP4 files opened with Hofxlap.

Of course, it is possible to use personnal setups to configure his car depending of the track.

3.14. Carset

The use of a carset is authorized, but not obligatory.

3.15. Cameras

Some cameras added with the 2009 CVGPi patch are obligatory and must be kept as is. This involves:
- the view from above (key '9' of the numeric keyboard)
- rear view (key '3' of the numeric keyboard)
- front view (key '3' of the numeric keyboard)
If these cameras would not be available during the replay of a lap or of a race, the verificators reserve the right to declare the driver file invalid.

3.16. Use of a performance file

The use of the performance file is authorized but not obligatory. Each one will decide to use or not this performance file, for his qualifies, for his races, for both, or never. In case of the use of a perf file, it is obligatory to use the one planned for the present season. It is not allowed to use a performance file of a previous season.

To use a performance file, in the GPxPatch software, GPxSet tab, check "Performance file" and select the perf file on your hard drive.

The performance file can be downloaded in the downloads section of the website.

SECTION 4 : Qualifyings Up

4.1. Game mode

The qualifyings take place in the game in free practice mode. The driver must realize a quick lap, and then send it on the website. He has the right to do an illimited number of try, and an illimited number of send.

4.2. Dates

Each driver must do his hotlap during the define period. All the times done and sent besides this period will be refused and the driver downgraded (DC).

4.3. Validity of the lap

During the qualifying lap, the car driven by the player must always have at least 2 wheels on the track. If more than 2 wheels are outside the track, the driver will be sanctionned by a downgrading (DC).

The striped curbs and the white lines are part of the track. Everything beyond that is not considered as a part of the track.
A wheel is considered off-track when the entire touching part of the tyre is outside the above defined limits of the track.
The touching part of the tyre is the flat part of the wheel which is in contact with the track.

If in doubt, we advice you to send before the end of the session your lap, or print screens, to a lap checker who will help you.

4.4. Saving and delivery of the lap

To save an hotlap, you have to press "Escape" after crossing the line, then click on "Options", "Save" and at last "Hotlap"
(Echap > Options > Save > Hotlap).

The driver will have to send to the verificators his hotlap through his member section, also called the "paddock", of the website.
This file must not be compressed.

The transmitted lap must be named like that :
Example: A driver who has the number 13 in the official list of the drivers and who has done a lap time of 1'32.850 on the Melbourne track will have to transmit his lap with the following name: 13Q132850.hla.

4.5. Hotlaps Championship

The final ranking of each qualifyings session of the F1 championship will be used as well as event of the Hotlaps Championship.

SECTION 5 : Race Up

5.1. Mode de jeu

The races takes place in the game in quick race. The driver must realize a race, and then send it on the website. He has the right to do an illimited number of try, and an illimited number of send but the re-loadings during the race are forbidden and will be sanctioned.

5.2. Dates

Each driver must do his race during the define period. The race week take place of course after the qualifyings week.

5.3. Race duration

In the GPxPatch software which launches the game - GPxSet tab, you must parameter the race distance on 30%.

5.4. Position sur la grille

The driver must place his car on the grid functions of the position obtained during the qualifiyings session which preceded the race, according this rule:

  • 5.5. Saving and re-loading of games

    No game re-loading is allowed and would be sanctioned by a disqualification of the driver.
    Consequently, although authorized, doing a saving during the race is unuseful.

    5.6. Saving and delivery of the lap

    After crossing the finishing line at the end of the last lap of your race, but before the "End of race" message, you must save:
    - the race, by doing Escape > Options > Save > Game
    - and the best race lap, by doing Escape > Options > Save > Hotlap, and selecting your best race lap.
    Careful: After a pit stop, it is not possible anymore to save the hotlaps done before the pit stop. Think to save your best laps before each entry in the pits.

    The two saved files (race and hotlap) must be compressed in a same archive (with WinZip, WinRAR, or other) which will be named like that :
    Driver number + Race name + extension
    Example: Of the driver number 13 does a race in Melbourne. He will join his two files in a unique file named 13melbourne.zip

    The driver will have to send to the verificators this unique file through his member section, also called the "paddock", of the website.

    SECTION 6 : Points reckoner and Rewards Up

    6.1. Qualifyings

    No point is attributed for the qualifyings not to privilege the most fast drivers in the rankings.

    6.2. Race

    Points are attributed to the first 20 participants of each race, according their result.
    In case of egality with the times, the drivers will be ranked according the chronological order of the sending of the time.
    1 point is given to each participant of the race, except in case of disqualification (DQ).

  • 6.3. Rewards

    A driver will be declared F1 Champion Driver : the one who has won the more points at the end of all the events of the championship.
    Likewise, a team will be declared F1 Champion Team : the one who has won the more points at the end of all the events of the championship.
    A driver will also be declared Best F1 rookie : the one who has done his first GP during the current year and who has won the more points at the end of all the events of the championship.

    SECTION 7 : Authorized checksums for the F1 championship Up

    SECTION 8 : Sanctions Up

    Each driver who breaks these rules will be penalized depending of the infraction done.
    A sanction could be a time penalty, a warning, a downgrading on the grid, a downgrading (DC) or a disqualification (DQ) for one or several GPs. Three warnings lead to a downgrading and to the disqualification if a 4th warning occurs. In case of dispute, the President of the Ligue will take the decision after being informed of all the elements.

    A DC in qualifications obliges the driver to start his race in 22nd position on the starting grid.
    A DC in race implies that the driver doesn't score any point for this race, except the one of participation.
    A DQ in qualifyings or in race implies that the driver is not authorized to participate to this GP.

    8.3. Race (not exhaustive list)

    - Incorrect position on the starting grid: 20 penalty seconds added to the final race time for each position on the grid usurped (maximum: 2 minutes). No penalty if the driver started in a less good position on the grid.
    - Incorrect race distance: DC
    - No transmission of the race file: DC
    - No transmission of the hotlap file: Warning
    - Regular 3 wheels off-track: Studied on an individual case basis if abuse, DC possible
    - Regular walltouchings: Studied on an individual case basis if abuse, DC possible
    - Regular CC contacts: Studied on an individual case basis if abuse, DC possible
    - Race not viewable entirely: DC

    SECTION 9 : Team management Up

    The teams are fictional. All the brands possibly quoted own to their authors. The championship decline all responsability about a possibly bad interpretation of them.

    A team is composed by a Manager, a Technical Director who is responsible of the design of the car (who can be not a member of the championship), and a maximum of 2 titular drivers (+ 1 test driver, from 2008).

    The manager is responsible of recruiting the drivers. A manager can be relieved from his duties if the team is inactive (no driver in this team) and abandonned since at least 2 months. In that case, a new manager can be nominated to replace the negligent manager. A manager can not possess more than 3 teams.

    The special events are of course facultative and decided by the managers (depending of their desire and motivation). It comprises for example the presentation of the cars at the beginning of the season. These presentations can be accompanied by one or more articles on the league journal. It is adviced to let at the disposal of the reporters some photos of the car and all their caracteristics.

    The teams are encouraged to possess their own website, but it is of course facultative.

    SECTION 10 : Car Conception Up

    The cars are fictionnal. In that sense, their shapes and textures are decided by the managers. The cars can be with shapes different from those of the original F1 in the game. But it is appropriate to define some rules.

    These cars must obligatory incorporate :
  • 4 wheels and only 4 wheels.
  • Only unique seat
  • At least 1 moustache (front aileron) and 1 rear aileron. The front aileron must be in front of the front wheels and the rear aileron must be above over or behind the rear wheels.
  • Shapes reminding a Formule 1 car. It means that the F1 must not look like a tourism car or a Le Mans prototype for example, but like a F1. A F1 of the 80's would be accepted for example.

  • The cars must not be under copyright unless the authorization of their author to use the car on this website has been given.

    SECTION 11 : The Rules Up

    These present rules must be read by all the drivers and it is highly recommanded for all the drivers to read it regularly if there is a need.
    These rules may be modified anytime without notice.
    All copy, entire or partial, is not authorized without the approval of the President of the League.
